Summer Session 1 - Adult Ceramics - Monday 6:30pm - 9:00pm - Ages 18+
Our adult courses cover basic techniques such as coiling, slab methods, thrown pots and sculpting in clay. Additionally, students practice various decorative techniques, including sgraffito, slip-painting, under-glazing and glazing. Classes concentrate on three-dimensional sculpture and pot making, with an emphasis on the development of technical skill and artistic exploration. For those with experience in ceramics, we can expand and develop your skills with advanced throwing and glazing techniques and experimenting with new materials and techniques: paper clay, porcelain, lidded pots, multiples of the same sizes and more. Whatever your prior level of experience, we’ll tailor the course to meet your needs.
Session Classes are offered once a week for six weeks during a session. They are taught to the level of each student, providing group and individual instruction. Fee includes one 25lb bag of clay, the use of studio equipment, glazes and firings. You will need to purchase a basic pottery tool kit. We will have them for sale or you can purchase on amazon.

PLEASE READ THE FINE PRINT. By registering online to OAS sessions class you agree to the following policies and release statement:
Tuition & Refunds: Tuition must be paid when registration is turned in. Payment in full holds each seat. You may cancel at any time up to two (2) weeks before the class begins. There is a $30 processing fee per class/camp for any cancellation. Students can receive a partial refund if they choose to withdraw immediately following the first class (same day). No refunds will be issued after that date.
Missed/Canceled Classes: If an instructor must cancel class due to emergency and a substitute is not available, the class will be canceled and a make-up class will be rescheduled. Please call the studio if you are going to be absent. Student absences will not be reimbursed and cannot be credited toward future classes. Make-ups will not be permitted for 'no shows' and class fees will not be refunded or credited. OAS cannot guarantee make ups. If you have an excused absence and we have space in another class, you may be able to make up your absence.
Liability & Emergencies: I hereby release Open Arts Studio from liability of any injuries my child or I may suffer as the result of participation in the program. I acknowledge that my child will not be released from the studio by themselves or with anyone other than authorized persons. I give permission to see that my minor child receives medical treatment in an emergency. OAS may take your child off premise for the purpose of break time or part of the lesson. Students will be well supervised, and the release of liability applies during this time.
Behavior: Respectful behavior is expected at all times. Students who prove to be a continual distraction to the class will be dismissed from class for the day. If the student's unacceptable behavior continues, they may not be allowed to return to the studio at the discretion of the instructor/OAS staff. Any remaining tuition is non-refundable.
In the Classroom: No cell phones are permitted during youth classes. OAS is not responsible for damaged clothing or property. Please dress appropriately. Long hair should be tied back and closed toed shoes are required for cooking and ceramics classes. Please arrive at the studio a few minutes prior to class as late arrivals cause a distraction and will reduce 1:1 time instructors have with each student. OAS has permission to photograph students and their artwork for use in print and online promotion.
