Open Arts Studio offers Winter Camps in a Draw/Paint, Pottery and more art subjects. We look forward to teaching your children passion for the arts through traditional and modern techniques of fine art, taught in a safe and non-competitive environment, giving students the tools and freedom to express their growing creativity. Our approach in learning combines three fundamental elements: technique, creativity and fun. These three elements are vital in developing confidence and self-expression.

Winter Camp Week 1: Clay Camp (Littles AM Camp, 5.5-8yo)

Campers will become potters & sculptors as they learn how to handbuild and wheel throw clay. We will be creating winter themed projects this week such as snowmen, hot chocolate mugs, snowflake items and more!
The slab roller, extruder, molds, hand tools and pottery wheel are among the tools students will become familiar with as they build their pieces. Price includes everything from the clay to the glazes, just come prepared to get a little messy!

Please arrive 15 minutes early on Monday to find parking and come in to fill out required camper registration and medical information. We ask that children arrive in comfortable and non-restrictive clothing that may come home a little messy. Clay Camp students must wear non-slip shoes and have their hair tied back.

The Open Arts Drawing Method is a simple technique for drawing that gives students the ability to easily recognize the curves, angles and shapes in everything they see. Once students understand these concepts, they are able to recreate what they see into drawing on paper. Our drawing method is taught to the appropriate age and ability level of each class. Subject matter and mediums will vary in order to allow for progressive learning experiences. Students progress from simple contour images to three-dimensional subjects.

Beginning sewers will learn to use the sewing machine, use basic sewing tools, and be provided with projects designed to improve sewing skills. Several winter themed projects will be completed throughout the week, tailored to each students abilities. Such as hand warmers, winter fabric masks, cozy pj bottoms, and more.

The Open Arts Drawing Method is a simple technique for drawing that gives students the ability to easily recognize the curves, angles and shapes in everything they see. Once students understand these concepts, they are able to recreate what they see into drawing on paper. Our drawing method is taught to the appropriate age and ability level of each class. Subject matter and mediums will vary in order to allow for progressive learning experiences. Students progress from simple contour images to three-dimensional subjects.

Campers will become potters & sculptors as they learn how to play with ideas such as scale, multiples, detailing, stacking, texture & craftsmanship. Creating winter themed projects this week such as snowmen, hot chocolate mugs and more! (projects will not be repeated from week 1)
The slab roller, extruder, molds, hand tools and pottery wheel are among the tools students will become familiar with as they build their pieces. Price includes everything from the clay to the glazes, just come prepared to get a little messy!
