Get Creative with Clay!
Open Arts Studio’s Clay program teaches many techniques and offers students the opportunity to work with clay in a variety of methods. The slab roller, extruder, molds, hand tools, and pottery wheel are among the tools students will become familiar with as they build their creations! All clay classes include experience with hand-building as well as working on the wheel.
Week 1 June 14-18
Globe Trotting
Travel around the world in five days while creating medieval European and African tribal masks: animal and people figurines, maracas and whistles, Japanese Lamps and more.
Week 2 June 21-25
Oceans and Beaches
Star fish, sea turtles, sea anemones and puffer fish are among the many clay creations. Wind chimes withyour favorite ocean going creatures:along with re-creations of tide pools, sea castles and beach comber’s treasures.

Overhaul My Room
Treasure chests, clay wall pockets, jewelry boxes, wall vases, toothbrush holders, tissue box holders, bedroom gargoyles, door signs, hand-carved relief wall hangings, miniature chairs.

Heroes and Villains
Create your own super hero and his or her nemesis! Start out by discussing, developing and then sketching your characters, considering details such as special powers, costumes and possible story lines. Then sculpt your characters out of clay. Plus, create a diorama where a climactic “scene” in the character’s story line is taking place.
