Drawing/Painting - Ceramics/Pottery - Beading - Cooking - Sewing
Open Arts Studio is a school of the arts where students are given the freedom to express themselves in a safe and
noncompetitive environment. Our educational approach utilizes creativity and fun to help students develop new techniques
and increase their self confidence. Camps are offered for kids ages 5½ through 14, and are held on a weekly basis all
summer long. Morning camps are from 9 AM to 12 PM and afternoon camps are from 1 PM to 4 PM; kids signed up for both AM & PM sessions are welcome to stay during the lunch hour, just send them with a sack lunch! Family and friends are welcome to join
us for an ART SHOW on the last day of camp where all finished projects will be on display.

Week 1 Draw & Paint: Boot Camp (Bigs AM Camp)

“How do I get better at drawing EVERYTHING?!”
Train like the pros do! Your invited to join this week long Kid’s Boot Camp that shows you techniques the pros use for drawing. Skills used in art institutes and colleges and illustration methods used by professional illustrators from gaming to cartooning will be introduced all week long. ‘Construction lines’, ‘plumb and action lines’, ‘roughing in’, ‘arm sketching instead of hand sketching’, ‘painting with your pencil’ and many, many more tips and techniques that will give you greater confidence in what ever you draw. The curriculum for this camp has been modified for each age group. (Please! Feel free to bring images you want to draw)

Not nearly as intense as the ‘Bigs’ Boot Camp, the littles will explore drawing and coloring techniques using fun and familiar subjects including Disney, Minecraft, classic cartoons and current animated movies and tv. Campers will bring home finished art using Copic markers, ink and acrylics. (Please! Feel free to bring images you want to draw).

Campers will become potters & sculptors as they learn how to play with ideas such as scale, multiples, detailing, stacking, texture & craftsmanship. Self-portraits, pinch pot monsters, face mugs, animal piggy banks and more!
The slab roller, extruder, molds, hand tools and pottery wheel are among the tools students will become familiar with as they build their pieces. Price includes everything from the clay to the glazes, just come prepared to get a little messy!

Expect hand building and pottery wheel projects with themes chosen from classic films to recent hot hits! Some including: Mary Poppins, Coco, Star Wars, Dumbo, How to Train a Dragon, Lego Movie, Despicable Me, and Small Foot!
The slab roller, extruder, molds, hand tools and pottery wheel are among the tools students will become familiar with as they build their pieces. Price includes everything from the clay to the glazes, just come prepared to get a little messy!

Paint, Paint, Paint is a week filled with brushes & color! We’ll model different 19th and 20th century art movements such as Abstract, Expressionism, Surrealism, Pop Art and Collage. Some artists we will emulate include Da Vinci, Picasso, Andy Warhol, Van Gogh & Matisse.

Week 2 Cooking Camp: The Bake Shop (Bigs PM Camp)

It’s cookies, cakes, desserts, breads, and so much more. Get your apron on and start baking up delicious sweet treats and savory baked goods. Kids will learn great tricks & techniques to keep them baking all year long!

Week 3 Draw & Paint: Skateboard Art (Bigs AM Camp)

These days, some of the coolest street art is moving right under your feet. You’ll start with a brand new, California made skateboard and then learn about layout and design principles to create a unique, artistic and functional skateboard deck. Some of the tools used are graphite, transfer paper, acrylics & stencil art.

Disney, Marvel Comics, Pixar and Lukas Films: They are all under one name now... WALT DISNEY! We will explore them in this week long, fun filled camp that includes characters from Star Wars, the Avengers, Mickey Mouse, Goofey and the whole gang. Do you have a favorite? We will help you draw them easier and maybe you’ll find a new favorite. Characters from The Good Dinosaur, Dory, Brave, The Incredibles, Cars, Inside Out and more!

Be proud of where you live! This week campers will create Pacific Northwest themed items from mountain cups to a rain cloud mobile. Textures will be explored using evergreen pines and carving techniques will be taught. Salmon sculptures, native whale art and more!
The slab roller, extruder, molds, hand tools and pottery wheel are among the tools students will become familiar with as they build their pieces. Price includes everything from the clay to the glazes, just come prepared to get a little messy!
